Concord Art Presents: HomagesCurated by Crystalle LacoutureApril 2, 2026 - May 10, 2026
When: Apr. 2, 10:00AM
Where: 37 Lexington Road, Concord
Description
to elevate the humble and everyday into something worthy of praise. There are memorials and remembrances, references to the Dutch masters and Joseph Cornell, to rock music and masterpieces, to feminist artists at the vanguard, to the stories we all share and the writers, thinkers, and movements that still move us today. There are also works that honor, elevate, and transform familiar and often humble, quotidian materials into the realm of art. In offering these tributes, the artists create a generously inclusive vision — one in which the work becomes a collaboration not only with the beholder, but with the very sources that inspired it. Together, maker, viewer, and muse become allies in deepening an intangible experience, adding a new contribution to the long, layered timeline of history.
Artists featured in this exhibition include Brett Angell, Willie Binnie, Jenny Brillhart, Hillary Doyle, Tory Fair, Emily Hass, Lu Heintz, Crystalle Lacouture, Limited Time Engagement (Caira Art Editions), Cathy Della Lucia, S. Billie Mandle, Dogwood Messer, Allison Reimus, Jill Slosburg-Ackerman, Zainab Sumu (Caira Art Editions), and Joe Wardwell.
A catalog of the exhibition will be available at Concord Art. For more information, contact Executive Director Kate James at katejames@concordart.org or Assistant Director Natalie Reiser at
nataliereiser@concordart.org. You may also call Concord Art at 978-369-2578.

ArtSpace Presents “Hats in Bloom”, an Exhibition of Artworks Inspired by Sculptural Hats
When: Apr. 10, 10:00AM
Where: 15 Nason Street, Maynard

To begin the creative process, twenty-one ArtSpace artists selected one of eight Denishé hats as their inspiration for a new artwork. Some artists echo the hats’ shape, while others draw from their color, texture, or the narratives they suggest. The resulting artworks reflect a rich diversity of interpretations through paintings, photography, ceramics, handmade books, collage, and prints. Displayed together, the hats and artworks present a compelling visual dialogue and a testament to creative transformation through craftsmanship and imagination.

That reading, It Can’t Happen Here, will be produced Thursday, April 30, at 7 p.m. in the Sudbury Meetinghouse at First Parish in Sudbury.
Linda Hench, wife of Representative Carmine Gentile, is spearheading the effort.
“A friend in the Berkshires is coordinating an effort to present this reading in as many communities as possible. I wanted to bring it to Sudbury,” Hench said. “The play runs about 2 hours, but we are just doing Part 1 which runs about an hour, and then we will have a discussion,” facilitated by Katina Fontes, a Goodnow Library trustee and the owner of Athina Books.
The reading is open to the public and admission is free.
The event is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Sudbury, First Parish of Sudbury UU, Sudbury Meetinghouse and Athina Books.
It Can't Happen Here is a dystopian novel by Sinclair Lewis that follows the election as President of Berzelius "Buzz" Windrip, a populist U.S. Senator who turns America into a fascist dictatorship. Through the eyes of Vermont newspaper editor Doremus Jessup, the story depicts the rapid dismantling of democracy, the rise of a brutal paramilitary force (the Minute Men), and the subsequent suppression of civil liberties, leading to the imprisonment of critics.

“THE POWER OF ANGELS!”32nd ANNUAL FUNDRAISER & FAIR
When: May. 2, 9:00AM
Where: 106 Ponemah Road (Rt. 122) in Amherst, NH
Description
The kitties say the vendors are eager to have you get out of the house and visit with them for some tremendous finds, great musical entertainment and most important of all, to help Kitty Angels, Inc.! The weekend festivities are being held at Treasures Antiques, 106 Ponemah Road (Rt. 122) in Amherst. They will have ‘B’s Grumman Grub’ food truck on site which offers a great menu for a unique culinary experience! Also, the crew from Mapledell Farm will be on hand again, showcasing their awesome petting zoo!
The musical entertainment of bands and soloists for the event will consist of “9 Strings” with Dick Spencer and Dan Rodd, Ken McAdams, Roosta Gulla, Sunset Rhythm, Wildwood with Paul & Donna, Jeff Damon, and Side Effects!
As always, featured throughout the fundraising weekend and into the month of June, is a thrilling and interesting raffle of numerous and diverse prizes, all generously donated by local and national businesses, professional sports teams, private individuals and some of the awesome on-site vendors.
Kitty Angels, Inc. is the sole beneficiary of this event. The owners of Treasures have been hosting these fundraisers for this non-profit since 1994. Kitty Angels, Inc. is a community resource, but is not connected with any town or government agency. Although some of their cats come from households which can no longer care for them, the majority of the cats in their care are the very neediest of animals, such as strays or feral (wild) cats, which are in urgent need of medical treatment. Kitty Angels is operated entirely by volunteers who care for the animals, do around-the-clock trapping and field work associated with the control of stray and feral cats, and act as foster care givers for animals that are sick or otherwise in need of special care and attention. While a few of these animals come into the shelter and go out to homes with nothing more than neutering, vaccinations, testing, and a veterinary exam, others receive many hundreds of dollars of veterinary care.
Their adoption program places several hundred cats into new loving homes each year. It also provides them with an opportunity to educate the public about the need for spaying and neutering and caring for their pets. The shelter also supports cats, that due to a variety of reasons, like health issues, can't be adopted out.
They have a low cost spay, neuter program that was initiated a little over six years ago, and, it has become one of their most important programs. The clinic is designed for people who otherwise would not be able to afford spay/neuter. Last year they doubled the number of clinics to twice a month and this year they are doing three clinics almost every month. Despite the additional clinics, the request for assistance has grown and they still have a waiting list. So far, they have spayed/neutered almost four thousand cats, for the public, at this clinic.
Another important part of their mission is to assist the feral population through Trap, Neuter, Return. ‘TNR’ is a humane alternative to euthanasia for managing and reducing feral cat populations. Cats are trapped, sterilized, vaccinated, ear tipped, and returned to the site where they came from. Each cat trapped is evaluated to see if they are stray or feral. Strays are kept and placed for adoption. They continue to monitor and care for many of these ferals in colonies in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Dedicated volunteers feed and provide water every day, watching for any issues with the cats. New cats get trapped and evaluated thereby keeping the numbers from growing. Since their inception over thirty years ago, they have seen the stray and feral populations greatly reduced. Kitty Angels, Inc. a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable corporation.

This program explores the founding father’s musical relationships and confluences here in our fledgling Republic and abroad in Paris, where he served as ambassador to France.
Performances will be presented on May 2 at 4 pm at the Museum of Worcester and online, and May 3 at 4 pm at the Shirley-Eustis House in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood. The weekend’s concerts are the fourth and final installment of the ensemble’s “Cross-Pollinations” season, celebrating inspiration among composers and across cultures in four programs exemplifying the ensemble’s signature style of performing musical “rediscoveries” alongside beloved 18th-century works.
