Middlesex Conservation District Fall Bulb And Perennial Sale
The Middlesex Conservation District will be holding its annual Fall Bulb and Perennial Sale on Friday September 19 from 3-6p.m., and Saturday September 20 from 8a.m. - 12 noon.
The Sale will be held at the 4H Fairgrounds on South Chelmsford Road in Westford, MA. All items can be pre-ordered through September 2 and picked up on the sale days - we encourage early ordering as all item are sold on a first come, first served basis. To place an order, you can download an order form from our website www.middlesexconservation.org or call 978-692-9353 to request a brochure. Offerings will include daffodils, tulips, specialty bulbs, perennials, and hardgoods such as compost bins, kitchen scrap buckets, and bulb fertilizer. We will also be selling excess first quality stock on the days listed above.
The Middlesex Conservation District is a not-for-profit environmental agency whose purpose is conservation of natural resources in Middlesex County. Proceeds from our biannual plant sales provide programs to improve water quality and quantity, for preservation of open space and erosion control and provide environmental education. 20th Annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk
One in three people will face cancer in their lifetime. Change the odds by walking in the boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk, presented by Hyundai Motor America, on Sun., Sept. 21st. Participants will walk one of five routes that follow the Boston Marathon course: the full 26.2-mile marathon, the half marathon from Hopkinton to Wellesley, the half marathon from Wellesley to Boston, a 5-mile route starting at Boston College or the 3-mile Boston Walk, helping to raise more than $7.2 million for cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA. All walkers starting in the Hopkinton (26.2 miles or 13.1 miles), Wellesley (13.1 miles) and Boston College (5 miles) must raise a minimum of $250 in contributions; for the 3-mile Boston Walk, the requirement is $250 for walkers age 13 and older and $100 for walkers 12 and younger. Participants are encouraged to raise more than $1000 to become a Pacesetter. All walkers who finish at the Wellesley or Copley Square finish lines will be greeted with a victory party complete with a finishers’ medal, entertainment and refreshments. Those who are interested in participating but are unable to make it to the starting line on Sept. 21st, can register as Virtual Walkers and complete a walk of any distance, anywhere and at any time. Virtual Walkers are not required to pay the registration fee and are not responsible for the fundraising minimum. Young Writers’ Workshop
Janet Loomis will hold a Young Writers’ Workshop. It will be held on Tues., July 8th-29th, from 6 to 7 p.m. in room 2 of Memorial Hall.
Mrs. Loomis is a retired Hawthorne Brooke Middle School English teacher.
The workshop will cover poetry, short stories, journals, group writing and more. Come to one workshop or all four! Creativity welcomed and encouraged.

Kick off your summer with ice cream. Enjoy an ice cream sundae on the library lawn!

Groton-Dunstable Graduates to Honor Deceased Alumni
On July 12, at 1:00p.m. Former Groton-Dunstable student will plant a memorial tree on the grounds of the new Groton high School, 703 Chicopee Road, Groton. The tree will be planted to commemorate classmates and faculty of the Groton-Dunstable school system who have passed away. A brief ceremony will include prayer by local clergy and the dedication of a permanent rock marker near the tree.
The graduating class of 1978 organized the tribute, which will be held the same weekend as a class reunion for GDRSS class of ‘78. The DeCilio Family, owners of the Groton Nursery, Rt. 225, West Groton, have donated a flowering plum tree.
All families and friends of deceased Groton-Dunstable students and teachers are welcome and encouraged to attend this memorial service. For more information, contact Jay Willets at 978-772-0860
